Spicing up your Front Entrance

Your front entrance is the first impression people get when walking into your home, so it is essential to make it count - we all know you only get one shot at this!

Here are some easy ways to spruce up your front entrance to create something pretty to the eye, without being cluttered.

We recommend keeping the entrance table simple, with a calming piece of artwork hung at eye level. The other option is a mirror, although some might argue this is against feng shui principles, with the right mirror - it will look beautiful. Plus it gives your guests a chance to check themselves out as they step into your house. A mirror can give the illusion of additional space as well, so if your front entrance is a little smaller, this trick will make the area feel roomier.

Let there be light. The front entrance should be welcoming and warm. You can add layers to your lighting by including a lamp or candles. Select lighting that elevates your ambience. Aromatic candles also smell divine and appealingly adds to your atmosphere.

Nothing freshens up an area like flowers. A vase or two with carefully selected flowers are always a wonderful choice for your front entrance. We recommend choosing flowers that match the colour scheme of the rest of your house, or keeping it simple with a flower like babies breath, which goes with almost every palette and aesthetic. Although usually fresh is greater than fake, for greenery or faux indoor pot plants, you can find very realistic looking plants for a bargain. Having a vase of fresh flowers, plus the inclusion of a small faux pot plant will add greenery and make onlookers think the faux is real too!

Level up. Create dimension and levels on your front entrance table by adding stacked coffee table books. Again, keep the colour palette simple so as not to clash with your flowers or candles. Go ahead and play around with this. Maybe the candles up higher on the stacked books, or perhaps the flowers or faux plants look better placed higher. Try different layouts to see what feels right.

A pet peeve of ours is a beautiful front entrance table with sets of keys tossed around on top of it. An effortless way to maintain your aesthetic and never lose your keys again is using a bowl or box. Again, select something that matches the aesthetic of the rest of your table. The bowl or box should be large enough to fit what keys you have, without taking away from the rest of the table.

Remember, your home is a reflection of you, so select items that represent your style for your front entrance. Don't be afraid of trial and error until the end result comes out how you love.

Happy styling!
